Probably my favorite trail at Mt. T is Simon Cooper. It's off the map now. Anyone know what happened? Can you still ski it?

I ducked a line and skied it last year, only to find a whole bunch of downed trees, and severe lack of snow at the bottom. Top was beautiful though.
Nowadays you would either have to buy a park pass to enter from Curre deslauriers, or have a slight hike through woods.
Anyone skied it this year?

It is completely trashed out. They have the jungle tree house stuff in there now and that completely ruined what was left of it.

I don't flippin' believe it This place is obviously totally run by bean-counters and not skiers now. We did our spring trip to Sugarloaf this year as we only did three days instead of five and didn't feel like driving seven hours for three days of skiing. I think we'll be doing Sugarloaf, or Stowe, or Mad River Valley trips from now on.

Now that I've had a couple days to digest this, it irks me even more. I've only skied SC a few times. One year it was open but pretty bad. A couple seasons later it was closed but, I ducked the rope four times in a row and it was probably the four best runs I had that season. A foot of pow everywhere; I was going up on ridges and rocks and coming off into pow and playing all over the place. It was just epic. So I had to jump a 8" trickle of water at the end to get back to Nansen, BFD. I can only think of a few other times I've ducked ropes. Never be burned yet. Probably one of the best decisions I ever made skiing was ducking that rope on SC that day as I'll never get to ski it again.
I think Tremblant is off my radar map totally now. It will probably take me at least two season to cool off this before I even think about going there again. By then I imagine the problems running the mountain will either be resolved or gotten worse which should make the decision easier.

I suspect no one is on here any more. I got over my prior rant and did three 5-6 day trips in the last nine yeas. Today I found the remnants of Simon Cooper and it skied quit well although what is skilable is now narrower. Most of it is now a marked hiking/skinning/snowshoe trail that is on the hiking map so it's easy to find. You can ski past the entrance to the Cure deLaurension park and make a left about 20-30' past. It will touch the edge of CdL after a short run thru the woods. You could also enter there which is where the entrance is if you look at a very old trial map. And you can just follow the hiking trail markers. it will open up in a bit and then be at least a little like the old Simon Cooper. Keep in mind that the marked trail is for skinning up so go slow and be ready to stop and politely left any uphill traverllers pass you.

Actually, im still here, and i found this thread about a month ago. I found it useless to reply to ask more questions since it hadnt been active for 15 years, but since im doing some research on Tremblant's history im surprised to see theres actually someone still here. Im also kinda relieved to know that the trail is fairly easy to find, because ive been wanting to do it to see a bit how it looked. The trail was removed before my birth so until i started being interested in Tremblant's history i didnt even know it existed. Do you actually know which hiking trail follows roughly the path of the simon cooper? Also, im supposing there isnt really an exit since there are condos at the bottom, so i was wondering if there was a fairly easy exit by the hiking trail Edit: looking quickly at the hiking trail map, its probably the caps

Wow, someone responded to my post 1.5 years ago.
I actually hit the now-longer-on-the-map SC several time that year. It skied very well. If you are skiing the Flying Mile lift and want to hit some off-piste when the conditions warrant the effort, go for it. It's still quite fun. Almost as good as it was before they took it off the map. Maybe better as it's no longer on the map, wink, wink.
